SNK Neo Geo

The SNK Neo Geo was legendary for bringing true arcade hardware home in 1990. Its MVS (arcade) and AES (home) versions ran identical game ROMs, making it the gold standard for fighting games and run-and-guns. The library is dominated by SNK classics: Metal Slug 1–3, King of Fighters ‘98, Samurai Shodown II, and The Last Blade 2 — games that hold up beautifully decades later.

Provenance runs Neo Geo games through the MAME core with excellent game compatibility.

Supported File Formats

Neo Geo games use MAME-style ROM sets — each game is a ZIP archive containing multiple ROM files. The ZIP filename must match the MAME ROM name exactly (e.g., mslug.zip for Metal Slug).

BIOS Requirements

Neo Geo requires the Neo Geo BIOS (neogeo.zip) placed in the same folder as your game ROMs. See BIOS Requirements for details.
