Sega Saturn

The Sega Saturn was a cult classic — complex hardware that most developers struggled with, but that gave rise to some genuinely extraordinary games. Nights into Dreams, Virtua Fighter 2, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and the Japan-only port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night all found their home on Saturn. Provenance brings this rare library to your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Provenance is free, open-source, and available directly from the App Store. No jailbreak required.

Supported File Formats

Saturn games were CD-ROM based. Provenance supports the standard Saturn disc image formats:

• .bin / .cue — The most common Saturn dump format; keep both files in the same directory when importing
• .iso — Standard disc image format compatible with many Saturn releases
• .chd — Compressed Hunks of Data format; highly recommended for Saturn libraries due to the space savings on large disc collections

Multi-disc Saturn games are supported, with disc-switching handled within the emulator.

How to Get Started

1. Download Provenance from the App Store — it’s free.
2. Add your Saturn disc image files via iTunes File Sharing, the Files app, or web import. For .bin/.cue files, import both together.
3. Start playing — Provenance will detect your Sega Saturn titles automatically.
